Our Response to COVID-19

Dear Members & Guests of First Baptist Church Mahan (112),

Given the intensified awareness and concerns regarding the contagious spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as the virus variants that are circulating, we again wish to assure you that public health and safety concerns are our highest priority.  We understand that these are unprecedented times and I would like to personally take this opportunity to thank you for your continued trust in pastoral leadership as we continue to be led by both faith and facts in this season.

While we understand the country’s desire to return to the normal that was “business as usual” pre-pandemic, we still believe that executing caution and patience are still the safest and most comprehensive approaches during this season.  Although some churches are currently reopening for services, we will continue with the suspension of ALL corporate worship services, religious/ceremonial services, and related activities here at the church until further notice.

In addition to the pandemic being politicized we must also remember that our demographic has statistically now become the “color” of COVID-19 and therefore we must take additional precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our congregants.  As much as we are yearning to get back into the church, we ALL need to understand that we’re not in control of this virus and that we need to continue exercising patience in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our people.
Additionally, it is immensely imperative that we remain informed and inspired during this season. For accurate information regarding COVID-19, please research the reputable work of the following organizations:

Please note that these are unprecedented times as none of these decisions have been made lightly.  I encourage you to please continue to keep our entire church family in prayer during this season.  It is critical that we remain connected and committed to keeping each other lifted in prayer.  To recap:

  • ALL worship services, religious/ceremonial services, and ALL related activities at First Baptist Church Mahan will remain in our current state of suspension until further notice.  We hope to be able to return to corporate worship within the physical space of the church once the contagion numbers of the virus are contained and the majority of our demographic is vaccinated.
  • Please continue to worship with us online via our church website, church mobile app, our YouTube Channel, or on the church Facebook Page each Sunday morning at 10:00 AM (EST).  An Invitation to Christ will be offered after the sermon via digital discipleship followed by an opportunity for members, partners, and guests to worship through giving.
  • During the offering, electronic giving is encouraged and appreciated by giving online at www.fbcmahan.org , downloading our mobile FBCMAHAN app, establishing a bank draft from your bank to FBC Mahan, or mailing your gifts to:

  • We all pray and believe that our God will sustain us during this season as He has done in all previous seasons.  We will continue to stand firmly on the divine assurances of Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you!  Don’t be frightened, for I am your God!  I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!”  Be Encouraged!

Because of His Grace,

Rev. Dr. Steven G. Blunt
Senior Pastor
